The D68 door is an external system made of triple-laminated wood with a thickness of 68 mm.
Available configurations: with glazing (Ud 1.28 W/m²K), solid panel upon request, or mixed. Custom-made external wooden doors - any size according to the existing opening.
D68 is a renovation profile, not for new builds.

"A 68 mm opening does not allow for a D78 frame without masonry work. The Ud 1.28 W/m²K (glazed configuration) exceeds the SM WOOD practical recommendation of below 1.0 W/m²K for nZEB - applicable exclusively for renovation, not for new builds."
When D68 is not the right choice
D68 is not suitable for new houses or nZEB projects. The Ud 1.28 W/m²K exceeds the SM WOOD practical recommendation of below 1.0 W/m²K for building energy calculations. The difference of 0.28 W/m²K compared to the recommended threshold becomes relevant in the total thermal balance.
For new houses or nZEB projects, the SM WOOD practical recommendation is the D78 series - Ud 0.90 W/m²K offers a better margin in energy calculations.
D68 thermal coefficients
The Ud 1.28 W/m²K in the standard data sheet refers to the double-glazed configuration, standard size 1000x2100 mm. Solid panel upon request - higher Ud than with glazing.
For species with higher thermal conductivity (oak 0.18 vs spruce 0.11), the frame Uf increases - the final Ud is calculated per project upon request.

Available species for the D68 series
The D68 series is available in spruce, pine, meranti and oak.
Spruce - 0.11 W/m·K, the best natural thermal coefficient in the range. Ideal for RAL opaque finishes; the shortest production time.
Pine has similar properties: more pronounced grain and natural resin visible under translucent varnish.
Meranti for direct exposure to precipitation: tropical, dimensionally stable, natural resistance without additional treatment.
Oak exclusively with translucent varnish - highlighted grain, noble appearance. 0.18 W/m·K compared to 0.11 for spruce, with a direct impact on the final Ud.
Custom-made with extended lead time: larch (natural hardness, mountain altitudes), Douglas fir (approx. 0.13 W/m·K, reddish-brown grain), ash (~0.16 W/m·K, Janka 6,580 N - the hardest European wood in the range; merbau and afzelia exceed it, but are tropical with long lead times).
If delivery time is a priority, spruce or pine are the species with the shortest production cycle.
